Hi,
I've got an old Sun Ray 1 at home which I've had for a years now but
never really had the infrastructure to get to learn more about the Ray's....
Now, I have managed to get into the industry properly and the company I
work for wants a live demo of the Ray devices. :-) (I managed to
convince them since I personally believe the Ray is one of the best
creations/inventions in computing outside of the "dumb terminal" and
SPARC server!)
My question really is this:
I have installed SRSS 5.3 on Solaris 11 per this guide:
http://wiki.sun-rays.org/index.php/SRS_5.1_on_Solaris_11_Express
however, further reading has sent me to the official Oracle Support page
regarding firmware updates on the Ray DTU's.
Is there any possibility that I can update my Ray 1's firmware without
corporate Oracle support?
To try to prove a point to my company I am logged in via VPN through the
Ray however, I had to use X11 forwarding over SSH from my 32-bit Linux
desktop as we run a Juniper Netscreen VPN concentrator.
The Ray should be able to connect via VPN to the Juniper without need of
the workaround that I am doing however I cannot access the admin GUI
within the DTU since it seems it hasn't been enabled.
A non payed download location would be really great for this right now!
In addition are there any guides to kiosk mode and to how to present
different OS's to the Ray's, or applications?
Unfortunately I have not really explored the full power of these little
beasts but now seems to be good time to learn :-)
Can anyone suggest anything?
Regards,
Kaya
