Hiya,

This isn't a question, but an observation that may not have been generally
noticed, and an idea for something new to play with :-).

One of the issues which sometimes crops up, involves the ability to use desktop
accessibility tools and speech recognition with Sun Rays - this often proves a
stumbling-block (especially if you're using Solaris Trusted Estensions).

However, I installed the new OVDC.apk 1.2.0.13 on my old Archos G9 (running
Android 4.0 / ICS) the other day, and had a pleasant surprise. While OVDC.app
on iPads doesn't integrate with Apple Dictation - the mic key is there on the
keyboard, tapping it brings up the mic window which responds accordingly when
talked to, but text doesn't appear in apps on the remote desktop - it sort-of
works with Google voice typing. When I say "sort of", I tapped the mic icon,
said "1 2 3 testing", and got "1 2 3 gg" in a terminal window - and that was on
a Trusted Extensions desktop, too.

Now, there are good reasons not to use this in practice in a Trusted Extensions
environment - all involving the fact that Google Voice is an untrusted, not
protectively marked service - but for other contexts, I can imagine it being
useful, with improved recognition (probably on newer and higher-end devices). I
haven't upgraded to the new SRS 5.4 yet, but wouldn't expect it to have much
bearing on how well this works.

Cheers,
