Brian, let's read what Adam said:

"[MP3.COM are] very keen on making tracks posted
to their site into CD's"

Note that he did not say MP3.COM *requires* making
a CD, only that MP3.COM are "very keen" about it.

FACTS about MP3.COM:
-------------------
Q: Do I have to upload my music or can I link to my songs?
MP3.COM: We require that all songs be uploaded to our server.

Q: I am a solo artist and make music because I enjoy it.
I have no CD's for sale and am not looking to make any
money off of my hobby. Can I still join MP3.com?

MP3.COM: Yes, *any* artist is welcome to join our site.
-------------------

David Bowie, Public Enemy, and dozens more commercial
artists have been featured on the site w/o selling CDs
through them. It's not an amateur-only site.

Any questions? :)
