Non-SS I know, but that could be changed!

This December the North East sees the opening of one of the
most exciting clubs the region has ever seen. Foundation is
opening in Newcastle - giving the city its first ever
purpose built dance club. More than stlg2.5 million has been
spent by the DP Leisure group who have bought the site of
the historic Riverside club on Melbourne Street, and have
transformed it into a slick, state-of-the-art 21st Century
club. Architects Malcolm Fraser have taken a 1930's
Bahaus-style theme as their inspiration, transforming the
venue into a two storey industrial looking complex. The CVA
sound system alone has cost stlg400,000 with an installation
employing the very latest in digital technology to rival the
best systems in the world. Managing director of CVA, Craig
Varty said: "Out of the 250 systems we have installed this
is one of the most substantial. In my professional opinion
it will rival the best in the world, including the Ministry
of Sound." As well as its modern interior and impressive
sound and lighting systems Foundation will play host to the
North East's most famous and best loved DJ's. The club has
already lined up three of the regions most successful
promoters to host their key nights. Scott Bradford and
Scooby, from legendary house music night Shindig, will be
hosting the venue each Saturday, playing top quality
underground house and garage.

Skev and Andy Fenner from Nice are lined up to host Friday
with their new night @ac, where they will be playing a
cutting edge mixture of breakbeat, disco and funky house
with the emphasis on glamour and fun. Furthermore Aaron
Mellor, of Bulletproof fame, is taking his successful big
beat, retro, hip hop, indie formula to the club on Thursday
for a new night - Stonelove. Each week the promoters will be
joined by their own very special guests. Confirmed guests
for December and the year 2000, include K-Klass, Deep Dish,
Angel, Freddy Fresh, Andy Smith from Portishead and The
Herbaliser. Commenting on the launch of Foundation, DP
Leisure Group's managing director David Phelps said; "We
have spared no expense in investing in Foundation. We want
to give people in the North East a club with the best
possible sound and lighting, the world's best DJ's, the best
atmosphere - basically the best club they have ever had."

Foundation opens on Friday 10th December. For more
