Rock legend gives Jaguar more Sting It was the stuff marketing executives dream
of when international rock legend Sting went to Jaguar with his latest video to
use for an advertisement. Sting chose the Jaguar S-TYPE sports saloon to feature
in his latest music video 'Desert Rose' for Grammy award-winning album 'Brand
New Day'. After seeing the result - and just how good the car looked, Sting's
manager went to Jaguar with the idea of turning it into an advertisement. The 30
and 60-second commercials will be rolled out in the UK from Sunday 26th March.
The worldwide campaign will be launched in the United States on Monday 20th
March and will also cover other markets in Europe, the Far East and the Middle
East. In the new ad, Sting is featured in a black S-TYPE being driven through
the arid heat of the Nevada desert, while his song 'Desert Rose' plays. The
central theme of the ad is about people's dreams and aspirations with the
message: 'Everyone dreams of becoming a rock star', and then asks: 'What then do
rock stars dream of?' Also featured in the video is Sting's duet partner,
French-Algerian superstar vocalist Cheb Mami. Since its launch in March 1999,
the Jaguar S-TYPE sports saloon has been a major international success, helping
the company to achieve the best sales results in its 77-year history. Jaguar saw
Sting's involvement in their ad campaign as a once in a lifetime opportunity and
ideal for the S-TYPE market of younger buyers and female drivers. Pop legend
Sting is currently on a world tour and is currently appearing in Holland and
Ireland. He will play at the Royal Albert Hall in the UK from 27th-31st March
and 1st -7th April.
