(hope this response isn't redundant for the mailing list - i've been hiding
out for awhile....)
William Orbit released an album a few months ago called "Pieces in a Modern
Style" - essentially electronic re-workings of different classical/new
age/experimental music. It's very ambient, but the CD comes with an extra
disc containing remixes of his version of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for
Strings," which, if I'm not mistaken, blew up the British charts earlier in
the year.
it's not my favorite thing he's ever done, but the premise certainly seems
worthwhile and he stays true to the original arrangements for the most part.
