While I'm no expert on the name Matthew, this strikes me as completely
wrong. I've known plenty of Matts and they've _all_ been Matt with a
double T- the only Mat I've ever heard of was a Mattias from Sweden.

I'd be interested to know what other quirky things we British people are
supposed to do that might be completely untrue... <grin>
