Andr,
The Trouser Enthusiasts' "Joy of Sex" mix of Looking For Love is imo one of
their best mixes - the one that got me interested in them. They also did an
excellent mix of Byron Stingily's "Testify" (I think that one was called the
Passive Resistance Mix).
They have used other aliases - they started off as Flexifinger, and remixed
Mark Snow's X-Files theme which was a Top 10 hit around Europe back
in...1996? It was around the same time that DJ Dado had his version out. Ian
found a tape of the Pet Shop Boy's "Discoteca" in his manager's office and
did an unsolicited remix of it and sent it to them under the moniker
"Trouser Enthusiasts" so that it would get noticed. It did and was released.
Most of their mixes have had fabulously over the top names (when Cover Me
was still due for release, the tracklist of the single on the SS website
listed the title as the "Reptilian Cathedral Mix".)
They went on to do loads of remixes. About a year ago there was a change of
personnel with one of the guys leaving and a singer drafted in, and less
remixing work taken on in favour of own material. The single "Sweet Release"
was a flop and TE has been pretty dead ever since. There's a webboard out
there somewhere that covers TE/Motiv8/Almighty etc etc and Ian posts there
regularly. He has been talking about quitting music lately.
