How difficult would it be to allow sup -c to be run while sup is already running? The goal would be to be able to use sup as a mailto: handler effectively.
How deep does the need to lock the index run? Might it work to set something up which is effectively compose mode only? I suppose I could use mutt for composing from mailto:s and find a way to set it up to make sure sup knows about the sent mail, but that would seem to introduce a lot of extra configuration and opportunities for confusion.
