There certainly were hardware PC solutions back in the 'old days'.
(I certainly remember it being an option when the first PowerPCs like
the 6100 were shipping.) Don't know about now.
Since I typed the above, I had a quick potter around Orange Micro's
web site (I had a dim recollection that they did this sort of stuff)
and found this in their discontinued product archive:

... which says that nobody's making them any longer. I suppose
Virtual PC 's success means it's no longer viable to make hardware
solutions.
