Anyway, you mentioned the MPe card.

But I was looking at the regular Carrier card with the possibility of swapping

in a G4 zif later when their prices come down a bit or when someone unloads
one.

Not quite ready to dabble in dual processor.

Does the regular Carrier card have some life left in it in your opinion ?

Thanks,

As always, it depends on what you want to do, and whether you plan to unload
your machine for a new one soon(Big $, Big Chunk), or keep it and
incrementally upgrade it to it's maximum (less $, Smaller Chunks, Great for
us working poor). Using the XLR8 MPe card with it's SINGLE processor allows
you to add the secondary processor at a later time. (In the belief it's
easier to cough up $350-$450 at separate times than it is to spend $900-$1000
for a dual processor card all at once; after all, a new IMAC is only 1395.00,
Loaded!)

It's too bad XLR8 doesn't drop it's 2ndary processor price to the range of
$400.00 or so from it's current lofty price of $550-700. The incremental cost
gets tolerable for me there. It makes a lot more marketing sense that way,
there would be a lot of us Upgraders willing to drop good money after bad in
the quest of Maximum Possible Performance.
