Yes, the MacGurus site needs updating and clarification. Their problem is that they started with a somewhat clear explanation of the many detailed experiences they had with the various cards and then added additional information as it developed or was discovered. So now their informative page is like a coral mound. I'm a MacGuru's Moderator and I can't tell from that page whether there's still a problem using a G3 ZIF in the MPe carrier in PTPs or not, for example. I could find out simply enough, but the point is it is definitely time for an update. However, I also had an email from OWC Larry on a different topic and he asked whether they were incorrectly recommending the SSE for S900/J700 machines. The answer to that question is yes. While the S900 is a six slot machine its architecture is different from the other six slot machines in a way that avoids the problem which the SSE solves. The SSE is only needed on dual Bandit machines where it solves a CPU bus arbitration issue that arises when G4 CPUs are used. However, I don't believe it will cause a problem, and now you have compatibility if you move to a 9500/9600 or PTP. Jeff Walther -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
