I agree with John.  We purchased a SCSI CD burner about 18 months ago.  
It performs very well with our c600.  We did upgrade from Toast to Toast 
Titanium.

If you wanted to do something like install a bigger hard drive too, then 
it might make sense to muck about with an IDE CD burner.
