I updated my J700 with a bootable OS9.1 created by my son. I didn't do
a clean install just so I wouldn't lose anything (including my
Laserwriter NTR drivers). It installed without any difficulty and
without any major conflicts. I had to play with my extensions to weed
out what I was no longer using and keeping everything that I am still
using. It has been a rock solid OS since install. No conflicts since
install with the following set up.

J700, original CD, original 2.1GB HD, additional 8.2GB HD
XLR8 carrier, G3 266
TT 2MB video card
Orange Micro USB/Firewire
UMAX Astra 1200S Scanner SCSI
Zip 100 SCSI
Fujitsu 740 flop optical SCSI
Laserwriter NTR serial
Epson C60 USB
Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse USB
LaCie 16/12/40 (I think) CD-RW firewire
Cable Modem
