  www.xlr8yourmac.com has a list of compatible drives which you can 
set to ATA and CDRW and you will find reports of drives that have 
worked for others. Fry's sells a number of drives that are repacks of 
brand names and often one is the Lite-on drive which is a brand that 
often works in Macs. In fact Apple is now using that brand in their 
machines. Ask the salesman at Fry's one of the repack brands is 
Pacific something can't remember the other. I think you will have 
better luck with Toast 5. 4.x seems to have problems with this setup 
type. Fry's return policy is so lenient it wouldn't hurt to try
