I have an old Apple printer (different model) The waste ink container in our printer is on the far right side of the machine, at the furthermost point the ink cartridge can move to. It is a little sponge-like area. Basically, it wipes the excess ink off of the cartridge holder with each pass of the printer heads. See if you can remove the little sponge. Soak it in some alcohol, and sort of rinse it out. Then squeeze it dry between some paper towels. You may need to take a couple of Q-tips (or similar) to the inside of the little plastic box that holds the sponge. As far as I know, (and that is not much, since I did not buy this printer new) you can not buy replacement sponges. It is a messy job. Wear plastic gloves unless you want greenish fingers!
