Thanks Jeff,

When you and others have mentioned the problem, it just wasn't sinking
in to my brain.  And, I wanted to understand the problem, in case I
encountered it. 

After various list members supplied me with info, I did buy one of the
Sonnet Tempo ATA PCI cards and a bigger hard drive.  We have not yet
installed it.  It would be nice in the c600, but, its dance card/PCI
slots are full.  So, we may put the ATA card in the 9600, and move a
large SCSI drive to the c600.

At least now, I will recognize the problem if it appears.
