The extra part of the #1 PCI slot is for the E100 SCSI/ 10/100 
Ethernet card . This card came with high end models of both J700 and 
S900. The extra part of the slot is for the Ethernet part of the 
card. This is the only card i belive which makes use of this slot. 
You can use any regular PCI card as well. This is a very nice fast 
SCSI and Ethernet card. OS 9.x seems to be the end of the line as it 
doesn't work in OSX. The company that made it for UMAX (jackhammer?) 
is long gone. later Will S
