Hi Jacqueline, Be sure the keys are held down at the time that Finder launches. If they are pressed too soon, there might be an unintended stall. If they are released too soon, then Finder doesn't know about it. You might try waiting until you see the QuickTime icon and then holding the keys down until you get the dialog.
