Off topic I know but I have seen similar matters resolved on this list
before so here's hoping!

Last night a friend brought an Imac to see me. He had managed to load OSX
but not system 9 so whenever he tried to run any software It reported No
system 9.

The drive was single partition but he said he would be happy with OS9 only.
I managed to boot from my OS9 CD but was told a firmware update was needed
before installation could take place. (Prior to him getting X on the machine
was running 8.6)

After a lot of messing about we decided to reformat with 2 partitions and
start with a fresh install of 9

Bad move as a firmware update was still requested, did paperclip and long
bong but got the report cannot update to a locked disk so now I am stuck!
Any Ideas how to proceed?
