Will audio CDs not play on an S900 using the stock CD-ROM drive under OS X?

I'm running 10.1.4 and iTunes 2.0.4. When I insert an audio CD, it gets
recognized as such and iTunes starts up. All the tracks show up in the
listing, but when I press play, nothing happens. Actually, what happens is
the little speaker icon jumps from track to track, and gets to the end of
the CD in about 5 seconds! No sound is ever heard.

MP3s play fine from the hard disk, however, and the radio stations play just
fine, so I'm pretty sure iTunes itself is OK.

Any ideas? I'm running 10.1.4 on an S900 with a Sonnet G4 450 CPU card and
560 megs of RAM.

Dan
