Thanks, all, for the advise re: networking and DSL!
On another topic: My S900 (original PPC604/233, 3 internal drives - WDE
4.2G, SeaGate Cheetah 4.2G, SeaGate Cheetah 9.1G, 416M RAM) has
developed a curious habit of late. I set the monitor (Radius PressView
21) to sleep after inactivity, but not the machine, as I have
considerable fax traffic. With increasing frequency, I've had to restart
the entire unit - as opposed to simply tapping any key to bring the
screen back. When I've done so, the machine flips to drive #2 and
picks-up the OS 9.1 I've just installed there...failing to even mount
the designated start up disk, #1 (running OS 8.6). I have to run HD
Toolkit to mount the drive, then redesignate it as the start-up, and
reboot the machine. I haven't clue as to what precipitates this
problem?! Monitoring activity prior to occurrence yields no specific
pattern or program which could be responsible... I bought the unit in
1996, and have never changed the PRAM battery - could this be
symptomatic of a problem related to that? Drivers (Apple) were updated
on drives #2 & #3 prior to OS 9.1 install, but not on drive #1 - which
is operating with InTech's latest drivers. Eveything's been running
much faster since the 9.1 install, and the problem occurred prior to
install 9.1, so I'm fairly certain it has nothing to do with that
install... Suggestions would be most gratefully appreciated?.....
