Look in your "Utilities" folder for Apple Drive Setup, (it's installed with OS 9.x) and see if the new drive is recognized by it. If so, you can format, initialize, or partition using Apple Drive Setup. FWB HardDisk Toolkit did come with UMAX machines, but that version is getting a bit old, and I think most would recommend using a current version of Apple Drive Setup instead. If it recognizes your drive that is, as it doesn't support all hard drives. If you have the original UMAX CD you'll find the older FWB HDTK on it. It may still be available elsewhere too, but again, it's from 1995/96, so it's a bit old for using on a current system. Otherwise, FWB HDTK is a commercial product and upgrading to the most current version will cost money. As a result I hope Apple Drive Setup works for you.
