I'm not sure how "on" or "off" topic this is, but here goes.

Our office recently installed a simple Linksys 4-port DSL router and 16-port
switch, replacing an old ethernet hub, to handle our printing requirements
and to deliver e-mail/Internet to all employees. It took a half-hour and
everybody was up and running.

We have three S900s on the net, one C600, and four 7500s. most of these
units are boosted by daughtercards, and most -- but not all - run OS 9.1.
One runs OS 8.0 and the C600 still operates with the Umax 7.6.1 system. It
is the only one that doesn't get the e-mail/Internet product -- which is
Outlook Express/Internet Explorer.

Our problem:
The network goes down daily, sometimes several times per day. The ISP says
that they can "see us" but we can't get past the system to send or receive
mail or browse the 'Net. Sometimes we can't see the printer in the chooser,
either.

Frequently, we look at the router and switch and see the LEDs simultaneously
flashing on every station, as if data is being sent or received by everybody
in the house -- AND NOBODY IS DOING THAT.

They have suggested that we disconnect the power cords on the router and
switch for 10 seconds, then plug them in, then restart our computers. It
works and we're back on the network, able to do all that we want.

Has anybody ever experienced anything like this? What could be causing it
and what can we do about it? Somebody suggested that we may have a rogue
computer that is bringing the whole thing down, while others point their
fingers at the Linksys units, and still others blame the ISP.

All I know is that we certainly don't want to have this hassle continue.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Jerry
