dan_A mentioned that he had an S900 manual in PDF. Does anyone have a J700
manual? I have a J700 that I just finished upgrading with a Sonnet G4 card
and OS X. I'm not really a Mac guy, though OS X is changing that. The Umax
has moved from something I fired up once in a while to test the
cross-platform operation of Java code to something that I use every day.
Getting a reasonably fast OS X machine for less than $350 total can't be
beat (I also had to buy some more RAM and a Sonnet IDE hard disk
controller.... 2 gigs just isn't enough, and I already had a bunch of spare
IDE drives hanging around). I'm also impressed with the easy upgradeability
and case design of the Umax, compared to some of the 3D puzzles I've
encountered when trying to open "real" Macs in the past. It's a real shame
that Umax isn't allowed to sell these anymore.

I'm very pleased with OS X so far, by the way, though actually getting it
installed and running was quite an adventure. Those contemplating this jump
should be aware that OS X is now shipping with OS 9.2 for use in Classic
mode, and 9.2 just won't work (yet... I've heard people are working on it).
You'll need to scrape up a copy of 9.1 before you start.

The easy integration with my Linux home network is nice, and it also
interoperates well (via Samba) with my remaining Windoze machines (I'm
getting rid of Windoze as quickly as I can, though I may not be able to get
away from it entirely due to my job).

I think there was a PDF copy of the manual on the machine when I inherited
it, but I had to format the hard drive to install OS X. I didn't worry
about it at the time since the last time I looked at the Umax site the
manuals were there for download. Now, of course, they're gone.

Thanks in advance for any help!
