Ok.. So everything works, kinda (joy!). I got hold of a Mac OS 9.1 disk, except since I have no mouse and it doesn't have USB extensions(9.2 does..), I couldn't get very far. I did find out that my "FWB 2GB" drive is locked. I went to Drive Setup to try to initialize it, but I couldn't click the initialize button because I dont know any of the keystrokes to navigate MacOS without a mouse, and my friend who is kinda a mac guru didn't know either.. I guess hes not much of a guru after all. Here's what we tried(to no success) to get my USB mouse working:
-We copied over MacOS9 to a folder on his Dual 800 G4 with OSX -We downloaded the USB installer from apple -We put the entire contents of the MacOS9 on a hard disk, then installed the usb extensions hoping when it boots it will load the usb stuff.. -We burned all the files on toast. My s900 wouldn't boot from the cd. We then tried just copying system folders onto CDS to boot with no luck. All of the cds were MacOS volumes. I thought it maybe was that my CD-ROM drive couldn't read the CDRs correctly, so I did a disk copy of MacOS9 and it worked perfectly, so I know thats not the problem. Does anyone know if I can initialize/setup my HDD using the tools I have, or do I need FWB or something (considering the HDD name was "FWB 2GB")? Just incase, a wonderful lady is (hopefully) getting me a Umax install cd, so if all else fails I'll buy a ADB mouse and use that until I can acquire more useful tools. -Chris --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
