Hi All,

Here is the result of my efforts with the S 900 and the problem I was
having. First, the problem: Start up fine, but when I used Photoshop to work
on a file the program would either shut down or freeze up when I went to
save the file.

Solution:
The first suggestion was to trash preferences and run Disk Warrior. This
I did, to no avail.

I then removed the E100 card and UW drive it was connected to. This made
no difference in resolving the problem, but I was told that the card won't
work with OS X and since that's something I will want to install in the near
future, I've decided to leave it out.

I then check for SCSI conflicts by pulling the connecters from all
internal devices except the start up disk. I also disconnected the external
SCSI cable. No favorable result.

Lastly, I removed all the ram and installed two 128MB Dimms pulled from
another machine. There was a mix of 32's and a couple of I6's before
bringing it to a total of 240MB, I reasoned that since these two 128's were
more recent ram modules they would be more likely to run at the proper speed
for the G4 upgrade card. (60 ns, I think). The results so far have been
good. I haven't worked with it for an extended period but at least I've been
able to save files and no crashes - yet.

*Each time I changed ram or swapped cards I set that little CUDA switch.
Don't know what it does, but I'd heard that it's the thing to do.

Thanks everyone and I'll keep you posted.
