Hi all

I bought another firewire card today, a Texas Instruments 1394PCIlynx
unit. It works with the Mac, and controls/captures DV just fine.
However it will not work right with the iBot. The software finds the
iBot but it does not initialize. I think it needs power and the card
doesn't have any.

I notice there are the solder pads for an optional power connection
which currently isn't there. My other firewire has this power
connector, which is a four pin floppy drive power connector I think.
However the other card seems to power the iBot just fine.

Do I need to solder and connect this power supply plug in order to power
devices with this firewire card? Other than that it works fine.

The TI branded firewire card has these part numbers on it:

P/N: 9806006-0003
S/N 035E
1394PCILynx TSBKPCI; Selectron Texas USA

It also has three empty 26 pin connector pinouts on the board, (standard
spacing like for a floppy connector etc.) One says 'video port.' I
wonder what that one does, and what oddball card plugs into it..

Thanks

Bolton
