i've happily used similar monitors, though they aren't as great as some
of the new ones and often benefit greatly from a little adjustment in
the back. they are fixed frequency (at least the sun is) which means
they'll only do one resolution, pre-multisync, on the sun cable, does
it have the mac connector or a vga connector on the other end or is it
13w3 on both ends? if it's the right connector for your card, you
should be good to go, if not you'll need an adapter. on the dec, same question?

you may need an adapter that tells the mac what resolution to use if the
existing cable doesn't. frequently you do have to tweak these monitors
a little to get them to work with the mac, usually the resolution the
mac puts out is close enough to what the monitor was designed for but
just enough off to require a little tweaking. if you're not comfortable
doing a little tweaking with the cover off find a friend that is, all of
the adjustments (at least for the sun type monitors) are usually on the
back right side when looking from the back. the adjustments may or may
not be well labeled. they are easy to get at.

you can check the specs and pay too much for an adapter at:
<http://www.griffintechnology.com/>. you can likely ask for and receive
the needed adapters on the swap list, or if you are handy with a
soldering iron they're easy to make. they may need a "sync on green"
adapter, which also isn't hard to make if you can solder, write me off
list if you want the circuit (i've built my own which actually seems to
work better than the griffin unit). for free or near free they're
pretty sweet monitors, i bought one and later picked up several free,
then again, they are aging and may only survive a year or two of heavy
geekage, i've got 2 i'm waiting to repair when i have the time and space
(after i finally get the garage workshop setup, a major project!).
