I agree with Ford that Printing has been the biggest disappointment in OSX for me. However there maybe work arounds. The makers of printers are at fault rather then OSX/Apple it would seem. Many serial printers also have parallel ports for use with PC's. It is possible to use Parallel to USB cables with at least some of these printers and use them in OSX. One guy has a web site for doing this and using Epson drivers. Also Jaguar has included with it some UNIX printer software which also gives hope of working with the Parallel to USB cables. The cables run $35.00-$49.00 retail and as cheap as $25.00 with careful shopping. I see these sold for PC's and Macs separately . So it may be we need the more expensive Mac version or maybe they are just ripping us off as usual. I plan on trying this with my Epson color stylus 850 which is one of the printers listed as working with the cable and Epson drivers. In fact maybe I'll go buy the cable right now while I'm thinking of it! Since moving OSX Jaguar to my much faster IDE drive the printer is the only missing piece right now. For the record I see no difference in the OSX Jaguar retail CD and the last available developer version. I could have saved my money but might as well support Apple in continued development ! -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
