Hey everyone! I remember a month or two ago when I needed to get my s900 working, I found the demo of FWB's CD Toolkit to be a valuable too(thanks to all of you who told me about it), but I never purcahsed it. Anyway, I found another program similar today thats free and might come in handy for some. The url is: http://macinsearch.com/infomac2/configuration/cd-sunrise-22c.html
Wow.. This email sounds like some kinda advertisement or something. Anyway.. I've been reading the posts on OWC Zif and XLR8 CarrierZIF adapter cards, so I went ahead and got the 300mhz g3 + CarrierZIF package from OWC. Today I plopped it in along with their cheap-o ATA-66 controller card, and a 6 gig maxtor IDE hdd. I used Apple's Hard Disk utility and initialized it in OS 9 as a single UFS partition, installed XLR8's OS 9 software. Everything worked great. So..now that everything worked I went ahead and downloaded the latest version of XPostFacto, plopped in a OS 10.1.4 install cd, and everything went flawlessly. I got X running on the 6 gig maxtor, and everything worked. Soo.. I went and downloaded L2CacheConfig to enable my little 512k L2 cache on my G3 ZIF. I had to go back into OS 9 and create the little config file, then went into X, ran L2CacheConfig, selected my config file, and voila. Apple System Profiler finds the L2 and everything. I hope this post helps anyone thats having trouble getting this working, or in the future helps someone. :) BTW, I stuck in my old HP 7200i 2x4x4 CDR to see if I could burn cds, but OS 9.1 and OS X won't even recognize the drive. It's fully ATAPI compatible, so I don't know what the problem is... Also I kinda left an OS X cd in one of my cd drives and booted my computer.. Big mistake.. Black screen of death. *sigh* I'm still waiting the 20 mins or so after taking the power / battery out and holding down the mighty cuda. -Chris -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
