Apple only supports 9.2 and later on computers that came with a G3 or G4 processor. What I've heard is that the differences between 9.1 and 9.2.2 are just performance tweaks for running 9.2.2 under OS X, in classic mode. There are no added features. But... some people have said that running 9.2.2 as the main operating system, outside of OS X, is faster than 9.1. (I haven't noticed any difference on my iMac, but haven't tried it on my S900 yet.)
