You can boot directly into Linux from OF with quik and use both processors. BootX and SMP don't play nice together. I have no idea about your Voodoo3.....
The Debian installer for Woody will set quik up for you, but you must point OF towards it. I use a program called boot variables to set the correct input/output devices (our machines default to the serial port) and which device to boot from.
