Hi Phil,

Taken together they indicate memory management problems within the allotted
memory partition of one or more processes. This is most commonly remedied by
increasing an application's memory allocation in its "Info" window. This is
particularly so with web browsers because their plug-ins are run in the same
memory space as the application itself, and it's very easy to forget to
readjust that for every additional plug-in and at every application upgrade
or reinstallation.

Other possibilities include buggy software and RAM imperfections that are
handled more gracefully at slower processor speeds. Sometimes the stability
achieved by adjusting the cache, memory, or bus settings can yield better
results than flat out speed. YMMV. The observation that it only occurs with
the above programs would cast suspicion in their direction.
