Thank you for saying this so well, Bill. This is exactly what I'm after 
-- a preferred method of replying to the list with room for flexibility. 
We are not mandating bottom posting, only recommending it as the 
preferred style on our lists.

As I scroll through digest after digest from 30-some lists, I find it 
helpful to have some consistency, and I find bottom posting makes it 
easier for me to scroll back as necessary to read the context.

But most of all it eliminates 90% of the excessive quoting.

HINT: the Page Up and Page Down keys can be your friends if you have 
QuicKeys or another macro program. Ditto for a scroll wheel on your mouse 
or keyboard.
