A hint/ tip
Before you install Quicktime 6.x on your OS 9.x machine save a copy of
the QT 5.x app. Put it inside a folder named something different. Do
your QT 6.x install. The reason for doing this is....QT 6 can not play
VCD files/ disks. After installing QT 6.x you can use the QT 5 player
app and just like magic it not only works with the new mpeg 4 it also
plays VCD files! If you are lucky enough to have an early QT 5.x
version it also does mpg editing which QT 6 also seems to be missing at
least doesn't have as many features as QT 5. This works with OS 9.x and
I think OSX up to and including 10.1.5 . Bummer OSX Jaguar only works
with QT 6 so no VCD playing . You need MacVCD X a great app but it's
not free. I'm not sure if the lack of mpg editing and VCD playing in QT
6 is a bug or a feature.... Will S
