Hi All, Thanks for all the help on and off list. In particular I very happy to have been sent PDF's of the User guide and a Umax Troubleshooting guide.
I've had a bit of success since I sent my last email. Everyone was so laid back about booting in 9.1 that it occurred to me that maybe it was just the copy I was trying to use. I eventually ran a diagnostic on the hard drive that wouldn't boot and it turns out that it's the problem. I not convinced that Norton's has fixed all the errors on it (I've definitely lost faith in Norton's over the last few years) so I'll back up and reinitialize it soon. I installed a clean version of 9.04 on another hard disk and it booted no problem. Updated it to 9.1 and still no problem. So I copied the booting system to the internal Hard Disk and it's booting fine. Now all I have to do is replace the CD Drive that still isn't working....and install my UW card and drive...and second video card...and Firewire card...and where am I going to fit the coffee maker...
