Hi all I'm thinking of converting an IDE hard drive to firewire. That would work well, because then I could use on my a)SuperMac, b)Pegasos with MorphOS and c)Wintel PC. Its not a huge drive but its much bigger than what the Mac has now. Of course, I could also just get an Acard or other IDE card-which one of those seems to work the best?
FInally, what filesystem could I use that could be read by all three? Is there a way to mount ext2 filesystems under MacOS? Don't want to use FAT because of the 4Gb limitation (I may use this for editing video) or NT because nothing but another NT box can read it. I could use SmartFileSystem, an aftermarket Amiga/MOS filesystem which is excellent, but I don't know if either the PC or Mac could read that. So, which filesystem would be the most usable cross-platform? The drive is an older ATA66 so speed isn't of the utmost importance in a card. I did notice however, a firewire to ide adapter which would do two drives-I'm thinking this and my CD burner in one external case :-) Bolton -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
