Greetings,

I've been using my SuperMac J700 pretty much non-stop since August of 1997
- over 5 years now!

I've been upgrading different parts of it, piece by piece.

Original equipment was 24 megs of ram, 2 gig quantum fireball, 8x cd-rom,
ims Twin Turbo 128m2.

Since I purchased it, I've added half a gig of ram, a second internal hard
disk (4 gig barracuda), upgraded to a 400 MHz G3 processor, replaced the
twin turbo with an ATI Rage Orion, replaced the cd-rom with a 40x cd-rom,
added an auxiliary PCI-slot cooling fan, and upgraded the OS to Mac OS
10.2.3.

All told, the system is running very well. I am planning to buy a much
larger SCSI hard drive in the near future to replace the 4 gig barracuda,
and possibly purchasing a better video card, such as a Radeon 7000.

Other than these component upgrades, could anyone suggest upgrades I could
make to ensure the physical longevity of my system? That is, to make sure
it stays up and running, not necessarily so that it can keep pace with
newer systems (which it just can't). Should I get a new (bigger/better)
power supply for it? Perhaps replace the original fan? Or maybe even a new
case?

I haven't had any real problems yet, but I want to keep this puppy running
as long as it's able.

Thanks,

Peter
