In a word No! This upgrade isn't going into a C500/600 machine anytime soon. Most likely there will be no more Zif upgrades for these fine machines. There are I believe G3 500mhz L2 upgrades. These how ever don't let you run OSX. There isn't any software that lets the L2 upgrades work with OSX. Sonnet looked into it and gave up. Ryan of XPFacto fame may come up with something in the future. It is on his list of things to do. It will take a miracle but wouldn't be his first ;-) The door for OSX on a C500/600 has already been opened, Nils a member of this list has written several times here about his C500/ Apus 2000 or was it the C600/Apus 3000? He is running OSX on it and seems happy with it. It wasn't an easy thing to do. Not just anyone would be able to do it but a smart guy or gal could ;-) To make a long story short you need a fast 603e cpu 240 or maybe 280 or a Zif G3 upgrade. Nils's is using a Phase 5 G3 Zif upgrade. (German company long gone) Newer Tech and Mactell also made them. I have a very rare UMAX G3 Zif upgrade which runs at a bus of 80mhz using the cache doubler in my C500. Someday maybe I'll have time to get OSX running on it... UMAX was the first company to use a Zif slot upgrade in a Mac. When Apple went with the Zif upgrades in the Beige G3's (I think that was the first?) they used a different pin configuration for their Zif. So no other machine uses the same Zif slot as the Umax C500/600 end of story. Will S -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
