I seem to recall the CPU attached to the motherboard through a 
socket, but does the actual CPU chip (just underneath the heatsink) 
have legs coming out of each side ?  Or is that what you mean ? 
Furthermore, what speed CPU card did you examine?   I am pretty sure 
all the 240 Mhz ones are BGA/ZIF.
