It depends on the Ethernet card. The built-in Ethernet is rated for 10 megabits per second. The ethernet on the E100 card can do 10 or 100 megabits per second, so it's faster, if connected to a faster network. Other ethernet cards can be 10, 100 or even 1000 (gigabit) depending on the model of card. If the card is 10, it doesn't really offer any advantages over the built-in unless you need two ethernet ports for some reason.
