Hi......

I've just moved with my J700. Seemingly not a 'hard' move. Afterward, the computer was
just sitting there for about 5 days. When I set-up and tried to start'er'up, the hard
drive was beeping, etc. (like, I assume, it should) but the monitor wasn't responding.

I took the hood off the J700. First of all, there's a replacement hard drive in it...
a 20-gig. It's 'loose' in that compartment since the mounting holes don't line up. I
checked the connections and everything seems snug.

I unhooked the Nokia monitor... and the screen glowed, a sign that it is 'alright',
right?

I'm suspicious because there's no 'musical tone' at startup. The hard drive speeds up,
its light comes on, it blinks and beeps... but no musical tone... and certainly no
response from the monitor.

Nothing different when I put a Startup Disk in the floppy drive. Nothing different
when I startup with the Mac 8.5 CD in the drive.

I was told to move the video card to a different slot. I did. It didn't change
anything.

I don't know much of anything about computer stuff. I'm a graphics designer who just
doesn't know hardware. I'm thinking that this is a simple 'fix' for some of you
folks... but I'm LOST... SERIOUSLY LOST.

I'm hoping that you will recommend something that I will understand. Please! (Thanks,
in advance)

......Hal
