I agree with Alan, if your camera has removable memory, use a card 
reader. They are more reliable than the serial-USB converters, and with 
USB 2.0 (hi-speed) ones going for $20USD, they are the same price, if 
not cheaper, than a USB to serial box. Any of them would be at least a 
factor of 4x faster than any serial port.
