I understand about the clutter and I suppose that is more of an issue
with your still young child ;-)
I was so caught up with getting one of these cards to work I didn't
really think things through. I wasn't expecting the ATI cards to be one
port but went ahead as $39.00 is so cheap. The package for flashing is
very complete. It extracts the PC firmware and makes a copy of it and
saves it before flashing with the Mac Rom. So it would be easy to
reflash and take back to the store. Unlike some I don't like to screw
others over by returning a card that isn't what it seems to be. I
really want one of the Sapphire 7000 64 mb cards. The only place I can
find one is in Germany. Not your german friends I wouldn't buy from
them ;-) They have an english ed of their website but list all prices
in Euros. They are 58 euros and they want a min of 20 euros for
shipping and it takes a bank draft sent to their bank which would also
cost money to do. They do mention Visa cards and others as well. So
apox 80 Euros. I think Euros are pretty close to 1:1 with Dollars last
I knew. So apox same price as would be here if they could be found. I
have the web address if anyone wants it.
My guess based on how fast ATI germany has moved on this issue. The
ram flasher update will disappear soon this next week I would guess.
Sapphire ATI video cards I'd be surprised if they are licensed to sell
them in North America. Most likely limited to Europe. They are only
sold by www companies i've never heard of before. I'll bet ATI will
tell them hands off North America at those prices or lose your license
to make them. I'm only guess ing but based on the quick action and the
way other companies deal with licensing territories....
I'm going to decide soon on buying a Sapphire 32mb card for $44.00
including shipping. If I can't find a 64mb card which I don't really
need but would sure be cool to have at that price. ATI doesn't make a
7000 series 64mb card with the double ports and TV out for PCI. The
cards do not look like cheap knock offs if anything look to be built to
standard German high Quality.(generally better then american quality)
They are in fact built in China just like most current ATI cards.
goodnight Will S
