John, Well thanks to your info I now know for sure that the Sapphire
32mb cards at both newegg.com and allstarshop.com are the same card. So
progress has been made. It would seem there is only one model of card
which require a different Rom file from the rest.
So far the new ROM file for this card has only been tested by two
people. The first has said it works great no problems. No info on which
Mac OS he is using OS 9 or X. The second person reports the card now
works but has a few artifacts, He is running OSX and not tried OS 9.x

A third person who it turns out has a card which can use the original
ROM flasher plans on pulling the ROM chip and replacing it so he can
use the new ROM meant for the cards which can't use the original ROM.
Clearly a relative of Jeff W's or maybe Mad DOG ;-) just checking to
see who's reading my posts guys ;-) though this is a true story. He
still hasn't figured out this work isn't needed, advisable nor will it
likely make any difference in how the card runs unless he screws it up.
I'm betting on the latter ;-) Both Jeff and Mad Dog are a quicker study
then he much quicker ;-)

I can put together a file to send people it looks like it would be apox
1.1mb in size or smaller. You would be cutting edge Video card flashing
pioneers of sorts and may want to wait until more reports are in ?? The
good news is even if something goes wrong you have second and more
chances to get things right. As the card can be flashed more then once.
New ROM files could be flashed if needed and as they arrive. The kit
also saves the original PC ATI ROM files so you can restore the card
and return it should that become the way to go.
So I will wait to hear from people as to if they want to try this.

To answer your other questions: The info from PCI Prober are what I
would hope to see but wait a minute the guys with problems both had "H"
on the end of the
1002 and 5159 numbers.
Until seeing and thinking about this I was all for using the new ROM
file. It would seem to be worth trying the kit and info you all ready
have. I fthere is no "H" after the Vender and device ID numbers of 1002
& 5159. If it didn't work there would then be no reason why the new ROM
couldn't then be tried.
It may also be that the new ROM will work in either case. Let me think
and consult on this issue.
Send request for ROM files directly too me. Will S
