You are thinking of Quartz Extreme which is what Apple calls the Quartz engine in Jaguar. It is turned on only for AGP slot Video cards but this software allows it to work with PCi Video cards. There is also Quartz Extreme Checker which tells you if it's working! It does speed things up and gives a very smooth fluid movement to video . the jury is still out as to which I prefer. It does cause an odd video artifact and sometimes dual image for a split second when starting or changing settings when playing Video's with Quicktime and MacVCD X for example but it is only at the beginning and when changing settings for a split sec. It off loads more of the video playing to the video card form the CPU and helps more on some hardware setups then others.
