You are thinking of Quartz Extreme which is what Apple calls the Quartz
engine in Jaguar. It is turned on only for AGP slot Video cards but
this software allows it to work with PCi Video cards. There is also
Quartz Extreme Checker which tells you if it's working!
It does speed things up and gives a very smooth fluid movement to video
. the jury is still out as to which I prefer. It does cause an odd
video artifact and sometimes dual image for a split second when
starting or changing settings when playing Video's with Quicktime and
MacVCD X for example but it is only at the beginning and when changing
settings for a split sec. It off loads more of the video playing to the
video card form the CPU and helps more on some hardware setups then
others.

There was talk about the sleep issue some where i thought on
xlr8yourmac.com but can't find now sorry. It affected the Mac 7000
cards so not a flashed card issue as such. Later Will S
