Dave,

There is something odd going on around the net. We had a similar
problem Thursday where I work (and this involved IE on Windows, so
it's not exclusively a Mac problem). Campus pages came up fine. Some
network pages (Google) came up fine. But if you searched Google and
tried to connect to any of the search results, the browser said
"done" in the status bar and nothing appeared. A check of (page)
Source showed no code at all. Go back to Google and click on the
cached version of the page and Google would deliver it. But the links
on the cached page would return a blank page that said "done."

What made it especially odd to me was that =some= network pages (off
campus) would appear, which seemed to rule out a network outage. I
also thought it odd that pages would claim to be done in the status
bar; usually with an outage it just fails to connect or says
something like "Page not found."

The problem cleared up later that afternoon, by the way.

George

It still confuses many Americans that, in a world full of
vicious slimeballs, we're about to bomb one that didn't
attack us on 9/11 (like Osama); that isn't intercepting
our planes (like North Korea); that isn't financing Al
Qaeda (like Saudi Arabia); that isn't home to Osama and
his lieutenants (like Pakistan); that isn't a host body
for terrorists (like Iran, Lebanon and Syria).
