ATI Rage 128 is a very good card, plus it has the advantage of being
able to be used under OSX. Just in case you ever decide to go that way.

For something cheaper, you could probably get an IXMicro (IMS)
TwinTurbo on the cheap. The company went under, but those are still
good cards. They were OEM for the PM 9600 and Umax S900. It could drive
my monitor at 1152*870 at 85Hz (I think it could actually do 100Hz, but
I'm not 100%). I've gone higher, but my eyes just aren't up to it.

Don't expect to play any games though, this card is straight 2D
acceleration.

You could also go with some of the older ATI cards, Mach 64 are old,
but decent for light work. Heck, you could probably pick on of those up
for not much more than the price of shipping.

I'd say go with the ATI Rage/Orion/Nexus series or the IXMicro. If you
really want to ride the wave, update to OS 9.2.2 and get a Radeon 7000
:) But that would probably be more trouble than you are looking for.
