What is the firmware revision of the acard. If it is one of the earlier ones it may have some old firmware. I know the Sonnet Tempo 66 (it's a rebranded Acard 6260) had version 3.08. It was buggy with OSX, you needed to upgrade to 3.12 in order to use OSX reliably. I'd check the Acard site, they now have 3.21 as the current firmware revision. Here's the direct link:

I had one cable that looked fine, but upon very close inspection had some weak spots, changing the cable fixed the problem. Also, if you have the 120GB drive as the only device connected, you should make sure that it is connected to IDE bus 1 not 2.
